After finishing his high school at the prestigious Bangkok Christian Collegue, he had become an advanced student and a teaching assistant of Nat Yontararak. He then entered the class of Dr. Suwanna Wangsophon at the Music Department, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University and won a scholarship from Yamaha Music Foundation from Japan. Having won major prizes from local major piano competitions, including third prize from 6th Bangkok Chopin Piano Competition and another third prize from 1st National Piano Concerto Competition, Cholapat was encouraged to boost his skill further. He studied for two years in the professional program at Conservatoire de Lausanne in Switzerland under the tutelage of Jean-Francois Antonioli and studied chamber music with Philippe Mermoud (cellist), Frederic Rapin (clarinetist) and Dag Achatz (pianist).

Cholapat spent three more years in the United States for his Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami (Florida) where he graduated with highest merit (GPA 4.0). Here, his major piano teachers were Ivan Davis and Santiago Rodriguez. He also learned from Kemal Gekic and Tian Ying. He studied musicology and harpsichord with Frank Cooper.

During his last year in the States, he got a full-scholarship offer to study at Lynn Conservatory in a post-graduate professional program where he rendered his piano technique and musicality under the guidline of Dr. Roberta Rust.
